As part of my visiting artist residency at the Portfolio School in Tribeca, I was asked to teach two groups of young students how to use the opensource Inkscape CAD software. We started out with copying Muybridge animations with projectors. Eventually, following the term focus on sealife, we moved to the realm of shadow puppets, and generated a 360 film. Each student designed a cutout puppet on their computer. These were then cut out via laser cutter, and string joints were added where needed. We quickly went through some basics of shadow puppetry, and created a 360 video to the music of Maurice Ravel. Please note: This video is designed to be viewed within a 360 viewer. It will not make much sense if viewed via computer monitor.
