Minigolf Hack-a-thon

I was invited by ITP’s annual summer learning program to organize an event for the launch weekend: a two-hour activity that will help >100 people have fun together, and get a sense of the sort of power they have working together, surrounded by the tools available at ITP. I decided to organize an electronic minigolf session. People divided themselves into groups, and were given some raw materials and a pre-made limit-switch-embedded golf cup, ready to be attached to anything. A two-hour timer was started, as was some cumbia music, and everyone got busy. The results were wonderful. A loch-ness monster that howls upon success. A revolving corridor of madness. A political message that was loud and clear. And other cobbled-together wonders.
